Home Expo 2011 was a huge success!!  Over a thousand people attended the 20th annual Home Expo on April 15 & 16 at the Hopkins County Fairgrounds. Exhibitors from not only Kentucky were on hand but also from Ohio, Tennessee, & Illinois displaying various products and services (please check out our photo gallery).  Congratulations to the following winners: $250 Cash Prizes: Kevin Miller & Reba Basco; $100 Cash Prizes: David Hamilton & Michelle Burnside; Wheelbarrow Full of Tools: Rae Ballard; $300 Shopping Spree: Ronnie Dossett; Patio Set: Bill Devine. Home Expo 2010 was a success thanks to all our exhibitors as well as the HBA members who volunteered many hours.

Building or Remodeling your home is a big decision. When you decide to hire a builder or remodelor, make sure you are hiring a professional.

Registered Builders and Remodelors have an established reputation with their local subcontractors, financial institutions, suppliers and with customers like yourself. This means you can take some of the guesswork and worry out of choosing a builder or remodelor. Hire a professional. Hire a Registered Builder or Remodelor. You’ll be glad you did!

• All Registered Builders and Remodelors must offer a written contract, which allows a customer to review all the details prior to the start of construction.

• All Registered Builders and Remodelors are required to offer at least a one year written warranty which includes a listing of what is covered for a period of one year after the completion of construction.

• During construction, having the proper insurance can make all the difference in the world.

• Registered Builders and Remodelors must show proof of Workers’ Compensation Insurance and Builder Liability Insurance.

• A Registered Builder or Remodelor can not be a moonlighter. All members must derive their principle income from the building industry.

• Every Registered Builder and Remodelor must complete continuing education each year, which keeps them current with the latest information in the housing industry.

• Should the need arise, the Registered Builder and Remodelor program will sponsor a conciliation program in an effort to solve any confusion between a builder or remodelor and the customer. This saves the time and money of having to seek legal remedies.
